Our Story

Happy Pappi uses family recipes passed down from generations of Venezuelan Abuelitas. Originally from Margarita Island, off the coast of Venezuela known as the "Pearl of the Caribbean. Luis first met the people at the American Civic Association in the summer of 2015. He was so grateful for the warm welcome and assistance he received that he knew he needed to give back to the community of Binghamton. With 30 years of restaurant and food service experience spanning four countries he realized the need for high quality, reasonably priced lunches in the downtown area. Luis also saw the need for job training for local people who are looking to enter or re-enter the workforce. Through Happy Pappi's collaboration with the American Civic Association we hope to provide just that!

Arepas are made from ground corn making it an excellent gluten free food choice, At Happy Pappi only the freshest ingredients are chosen to make the fillings for the arepas, Ripe tomatoes, avocados, onions, green peppers, sweet peppers and habaneros are personally chosen and purchased. Each flavor compliments the next and combine with the perfect mix of spices to result in the most authentic arepas outside of Venezuela.

We use only the best, freshest ingredients for our menu. Although we recognize innovation has it's place in the kitchen, we pride ourselves on not taking shortcuts with our flavors.
